It is distinctly different from other three ordinarily well known three states viz. awake, sleep and dream.<\/li>\n<li>Hypnosis is easy to induce. Anyone can learn to induce hypnosis.<\/li>\n<li>Most humans can be hypnotized. Those who resist and challenge should be avoided.<\/li>\n<li>Hypnotherapy is strategic. Such applications of hypnosis require scientific understanding of physiology and psychology. Training and practice that evolves over a number of years are a must for therapist.<\/li>\n<li>For strategic application of hypnotherapy, diagnosis of the condition being treated is necessary; so is the understanding of pathogenesis.<\/li>\n<li>Goals as well as intermediate aims in therapy need to be defined at the onset of treatment.<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity and ability to elicit various phenomena is a must for the therapist.<\/li>\n<li>The deft application of the above facilitates the treatment. The therapist decides which phenomenon to be invoked.<\/li>\n<li>Hypnotic state is a state characterized by heightened suggestibility. There is uncritical acceptance of the suggestion.<\/li>\n<li>The suggestions work like a surgeon\u2019s knife.<\/li>\n<li>It is the duty of the therapist to look after the physical comfort of a hypnotized subject as much as an anesthetist looks after the anesthetized patient.<\/li>\n<li>In hypnosis there is innate preference for the natural state of well being as well as towards positive aspect.<\/li>\n<li>Rapport is basic to all forms of psychotherapy.\u00a0 Minimum effort is necessary in hypnotherapy.
